HI, I currently live with my Canadian common law spouse ( together 4.5 years) in the UK and have been offered work in Ontario. My partner owns a house in Ontario so this is an ideal opportunity to move to Canada. Could anyone advise me of the best visa application to make? Should it be a work visa or residents visa or a spouse application?? I have an offer to work for a UK company in Canada and also an offer from a Canadian company. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.
You'll need a work visa. Since you're moving to Canada, your common-law partner can also sponsor you for a permanent residence visa under the common-law class so you can get PR.
Your company will need to follow procedure to get a LMO, then you can apply for the work permit. You will need to apply to a visa office outside of Canada or as you enter Canada.
If you hold a U. K. passport, you won't need a visitor visa (unless there are very strange circumstances).
Thanks for the answer, I now have the LMO and will collect a 6 month work visa upon entry, will hopefully get an extension whilst application for PR is in the system.
Looking forward to a new life in Ontario.!!!
