I landed at Rainbow Bridge, Niagara Falls. The process took 8 minutes. He took his COPR, did some computer stuff asked him to sign. Didn't ask him anything or welcome him to Canada. That was okay though we actually skipped out hand in hand.
My husband did Ft. Erie by bus (Megabus) after visiting the Buffalo consulate the same morning to obtain his visa. It took about 10 minutes. He had no goods to declare and no goods to follow because all of his stuff was already here.
I landed at Toronto Pearson 10 yrs ago...It was a nice feeling to see the CN tower and the city on a sunny summer after noon from the air plane and think 'this is my home from now on'....
The officers were extreamly friendly...welcomed us to Cananda after the paper work...
The day I landed was the day they started issuing PR cards...so they had a high end camera in the immigration office and the officer was all thrilled abt using it the first time...and took pictures of us for the PR card...
Guess he was too excited..cause when the PR cards arrived after a mnth....my brother had my pic on his card and I had his pic on mine!
We live near Calgary and my husband landed at Kingsgate, BC. We were thinking about flagpoling at Coutts or Carway but wanted to do some shopping in Idaho so we chose Kingsgate. They were very nice and it was all over in about 10 minutes. No goods to declare as he was already in Canada with me. They gave my husband a little Canadian flag. ;D
I'd like to know how the landing went too. I'm landing June 15. Has anyone moved their belongings with a moving company? I was also going to ship my vehicle - but read somewhere I may have to pay duties. ? I thought we would get a "one time in duty free" with my landing? I own my car, and don't have too many belongings I'm bringing with me - certainly none of them new but have read horror stories where people were taxed on wedding rings when landing??!?!?!?!
I'd like to ship my belongings with a moving company, then land in the YVR airport.
I landed in Montreal because my flight wasnt a direct flight to Toronto I dont remember being interviewed. formal questions were asked I remember something about confirming your address in Canada coz thats where they will send your PR.
