I need to send the FBI certificate when I receive it and I heard some people were talking about attaching the client number so they can match with the application.
I think the first time I saw a "client number" was when our application was approved for sponsorship in Mississauga. It was at the top of the letter telling us that the sponsorship had been approved and the application was being forwarded to the appropriate visa office. I'm not sure about the client number being necessary for the visa office to match the FBI certificate with your application, although I'm sure it would make it easier - your name, date of birth, country of citizenship, and passport number should be sufficient information for them to find your file. Hope this helps
it might be a good idea to wait until you get the sponsorship approval letter if its not required at the moment. I would be afraid that if it were sent now without a file number that it might go missing or misplaced and have to be redone. if its necessary to send them and you cant wait then I would call cic call centre and see if they have issued you a number. I dont know if they can tell you but its worth a try.
You should probably wait until you get a letter from buffalo. It will come with barcode stickers that you can put on the outside of the envelope to make sure it gets to the right spot. By the time you get a letter for sponsorship approval, your file will be on its way to buffalo anyways. If you wait until you get the barcode stickers you can make sure that its not lost in the shuffle and cause more delays.
