When does the student visa start----on the issue date, or after the issue date?

Hi All,

A one-year program starts in Jan.10th 2017. If I apply the student visa now and got approved in December.2016. Do you know when the student visa become valid?

Would that be from the date when the student visa is approved, OR a future date AFTER the issue date?

The dates mentioned on the stamp of visa determine the time you are allowed to get into Canada, however, at the airport (POE - Point of Entry) they will issue you the study permit which will have the duration mentioned about your course. That permit will be covering the whole time of your classes and if it will not then you will have to extend it in the future.
