My guess is that it's the linkspamming, esp advertisement threads. When they get overloaded with those things, the delete/block finger triggers get itchy.
I've said before, I think they should block new users from posting any links for 30-60 days. That'll remove the incentive for many.
I got my posts removed twice, they only contained legit IRCC website links.
Would you suggest I remove the links? I see so many other older random spamming bot threads that are still up...
People will report posts of other members if there is offensive content. If enough people complain, I expect they delete the post. That's normally how forum moderation works.
To be honest, I reported a whole series of posts from two individuals yesterday (not you) which were entirely inappropriate, to put it mildly. I've very sure I want the only one. There were a great deal of offensive comments.

Which is fair, and I'm okay if even such posts from me are removed for that reason. But a lot of stuff seems to be removed due to difference of opinion from the moderators on the forum. I don't think that keeps any conversation productive and ultimately limits the possibilities or paths for people asking questions.
@armoured@scylla I'm guessing neither of you are moderators? Who are the moderators?
Been here for a few years and I've reported several spam posts but they were never deleted, so at certain point I thought there were no moderators at all. I may be wrong.

Not a moderator. I forget the moderator's name. However when they are online the forum landing page shows this on the right.
I haven't seen examples of stuff removed due to differences of opinion personally. The ones I see removed are offensive comments, name calling, spam, scams, etc.
I have felt otherwise - there's a complete lack of moderation. Maybe they used a script to remove offensively tagged posts, but they are very relaxed on removals. It is time for the forum to delegate a moderation level to a few elected forum members so that we can have higher quality of discussions here.

Have to admit I've been moderated a few times. Seemed appropriate in the moment. In hindsight, probably not so much. Besides, it's forum and there are actual real world issues I need to attend to....so I don't give it any after thought.
