A family of four is moving to Canada for a year based on the husband's LMIA-exempt work permit application. They are yet to make the application. The wife is planning to apply for open work permit in the same application.

As the children (2 and 3 years old) may attend pre-school, should they apply from Study visa even if they have no letter of admission yet. The alternative is to say Visit - Tourism, or Visit - Other types. But they result in the questionnaire ending saying the children do not need visa in that case.

I am guessing this means to apply for ETA for the children. But, I read ETA is normally for 6 months. How can the children travel without visas with the parents who have visa?

What passport do the children hold? Are they visa exempt?
