My conjugal partner has just recently arrived in Canada and we wanted to know what marital status should we both use on documents. I know that we are not considered common law partners yet and we haven't cohabited for a year yet (or 3 yrs in Alberta per what I have researched). He was previously married back in the Philippines but been separated for years now, and he got his PR under conjugal partnership. Does he put Separated or Single as his marital status on his documents? Thank you.
