I'm from a visa exempt country (living in Canada) and planning to go home for vacation in April. My PR application is being processed and I can expect a final decision right in April.
In case of a positive result... What happens, if my COPR will be issued and sent to my Canadian address during I'm on vacation? Does it make my ETA automatically invalid, or it happens only after the official landing process is done? I just would like to be sure that I will be able to board the flight on the way back.

If it does get automatically voided, and we don't have enough information to know, it will not be until you landed. IRCC have said that a COPR holder doesn't need to obtain an eTA to go and land. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1184&top=16

Thank you for your answer. My problem is, that I might get the COPR mailed to my Canadian address while I will be in my home country, so I won't be able to show it as evidence at the airport. You are saying, that eTA might be automatically voided, and I won't have the COPR with me. It seems like an issue...

We luckily ended up getting our COPR way sooner than expected. However, if we do landing, our ETA will be cancelled and we won't be able to come back without our PR cards, which takes about 50 days to get at the moment. Of course, the trip is sooner than 50 days and it can not be delayed. It's an annoying situation...
There is no information about the processing time of PRTD at Vienna office. Anybody, who has done that before?
We have enough time to do landing even on the way back, but we really would like to do it ASAP. We can't come back to the US either, because it would be a long drive to Canada with our baby...
