The immigration application asks of the applicant and each of the family members a photocopy of
1)certificates of birth, adoption, marriage, divorce, death
2)household register ("hukou")
3)bio-data page of passport
Do I need to have the photocopy of each of these notarized (even my passport?) and then submit a translation done by an accredited translator (where can I find an accredited translator in China anyway?)?
Also, in the Generic Application Form for Canada I am asked to provide information of my National Identity Document, and yet nowhere am I asked to provide a photocopy of it. So am I right to assume none is required?
I do not remember if the bio-date page of chinese passport need to notarized but the other two is a must. Here's a website that list where to get these notarized (including translation):
http://www.lawtime.cn/gongzhengchu/
For example, if you are in Shanghai, you can go to the notary office at 249 Hengshan Lu Tel: 021-64310286
If the immigration application checklist doesn't say, you don't have to provide it. Visa office will let you know if they require.
