Hello everyone,
Please if anyone can advice me, what to do ,I was on welfare ontario, and I closed my file with them, but I find out I have overpayment on my name of 3000$ with them, recently I got married and planing to sponsor my spouse Outland, I want to know what is better to do pay the full amount!
or just pay monthly,if I pay monthly it doesn't affect the sponsorship?

When did you pay and what’s your full timeline
I have similar issues, I requested Ontario works to close my file and they closed it on 31th August and paid $382 I owned them but didn’t submit my application yet. Did Ontario works give you any poof that show that you cleared the debts if yes, did you submit that proof together with application.
I heard that even if you submitted the proof, Ircc still will verify the document with Ontario works which normally take 5-6 months

If you sent a payment receipt/proof together with application, they must verify it with Ontario works to confirm if you pay overpayment
