Was my visa rejected?

Hello everyone,

So in July 2016 me, my parents and siblings applied for a Canadian visa.
As i was applying for the study visa for Germany around the same time I went to the Canadian embassy and got my passport back so that i can give it to the german embassy.

Unfortunately, the visa was rejected as my mother and 2 other siblings got a letter. I on the other hand did not get the letter of rejection.

I am now applying for UK visa and they ask if I have been rejected any visa before. I dont know what to say because it could be rejected as the whole family applied and got rejected and could not be rejected because I did not get any letter. What do I do?

Is there any way to know if my visa application was rejected or taking back passport means that I withdrew my application and hence it was neither accepted or rejected.

If you withdrew the application, then it was neither approved nor rejected.
