I'm helping my elder sister (age - 40) for a 2 year Diploma program in Seneca College. Her IELTS Academic scores are (L-6.5, R- 7.0, W-5.5, S-6.5, Overall 6.5). Under SDS stream, can she apply especially if one of her individual IELTS band is under 6.0 (i.e., W-5.5) ?
CIC website says overall it should be 6.0, nothing about Individual bands
**Applicants with an Indian passport are required to submit official Academic IELTS test scores with a minimum overall score of 6.0, with no band score below 6.0, as per SDS guidelines. Select programs may require higher scores. TOEFL / PTE / CAEL test scores will not be accepted.
How true is this and is my sister eligible with the kind of IELTS score she has?
There is a rumour that IELTS Academic module should only be used for Student Direct Stream but I got approval with IELTS General module. I confirmed with IRCC about that through there official Facebook page and they confirmed that IELTS Academic and General modules can be used for Student Direct Stream. To be honest, IELTS General or Academic does not matter if it comes to immigration, but for applying for a university or college, you have to check with that particular college or university. I got into my college with Academic and for Immigration I used the General module. If you ask anyone in this forum or somewhere else, most of them will say that you should be using academic without an experience.

Hi Arun, I came across your answer here. I have the same question. Want to apply through SDS but have ELTS general (8, 8.5,8,7.5) . I also have TOEFL (100)score. On the official site ( https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...permit/student-direct-stream/eligibility.html ) they have no where said it has to be ACADEMIC and not general. But I am still in doubt.
For which year entry you got your SDS application processed with IELTS general. I cant access the google drive path you have mentioned above.
