Waiting for marriage certificate

Hello,
My partner and I got married two weeks ago and we've not received the marriage certificate yet. His legal status expires within a week.
I was wondering to provide CIC with the copy that the marriage officiant gave us on the day of marriage.
Is it possible to do so? Because i dont want him to lose his status and go back.

Hi,

you need to order the marriage certificate online on service ontario website.

Generally, it would take 4 - 6 weeks to get that after getting married.

And, CIC wont accept the normal certificates but they want the long format certificates.

Last option Though, you might try applying a visa for him through the certificate you have, they will either reject the application or ask you to upload different document.
which might give you some extra time to get the certificate.

better to take help from immgration consultants.
