I have all my documents gathered, the only thing I'm waiting for is the FBI clearance which I have just requested. Is it wise/ok to send in the packet with a letter explaining that I will mail the FBI clearance once I receive it?
I dont want to wait to send it in, but will it delay the process like this, or will it be fine and they will start for now and wait for the clearance?
I Just sent mine in. Does anyone know if ill be messing it up by sending it in without, or is it ok, as long as i send it in as soon as I get it?
I don't want to wait 6-10 weeks now.
I can't say for sure that's it's a definite no-no to not include the police check with your original application, but I would strongly suggest you wait. I don't think you will simplify the process at all by sending in everything else first and then the FBI check when you receive it...in all likelihood, if they don't outright mark the application as "incomplete" they will wait until everything is in before starting to process.
One more detail.
My wife is a dual Israeli/American citizen. we got our Israeli clearance already, and my wife besides for the past year has been living in Israel and not america, since she is a child.
Will they not start even if they have an Israeli clearance?
What does it mean if they mark it as incomplete, what happens then?
"You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18."
So I would consider your application as incomplete without it. They may not send the whole thing back (but they could) but they WILL ask you for it down the road if you don't provide it up front....and just doing that could mean delays.
They will mail it to a Canadian address. The application form actually lets you specify a country for the mailing address (though I'm not sure that means ANY country) so you don't need a separate letter requesting that. As of this month it seems they don't actually accept SASE's anymore anyways.
I got the prints done in Israel and I didn't receive any application for a return address. I just figured that I can attach my own sheet of paper requesting where the doc should be returned too.
I emailed the Tel Aviv office about sending it in with out the FBI clearance and if it would delay the process or if it will be returned as incomplete and this is their response.
"Dear Sir,
You can send your application to CPC Mississauga and add a note that you have already requested FBI clearance.
Sincerely,
Immigration & Visa Section
Canadian Embassy
Tel Aviv"
