Voluntary Departure Question

I entered Canada illegally several months ago, recently I hear my father is sick in my home country and I would like to go back home. Can anyone please tell me how the voluntary departure procedure works? Can I just buy a plane ticket to go back home? What can I expect to happen if I show up at the airport with a plane ticket going home? Will I be held in detention, if so for how long? Thank you.

1. Were you reported? Was an order issued?
2. If an order was issued, then you buy your ticket and before you board the plan you report to Immigration at the Airport and show you that you are leaving.
3. If no order was issued, then you leave. Canada doesn't have exit controls.

Hi PMM ,
I was held in detention in uk as my case was in dispute as my lawyer applied through different form,my question is will it be a problem for my PR for canada.

P.S:1. i was legal stayer in uk and applied for temporary stay.
2. an ordered to leave was issued but i bought my own ticked to return.

Apart from the fact you have appended your post to a near 8 year old post instead of creating from new and also seems a completely different scenario detention in UK versus Canada how could you have been legal in the UK but held in detention. Assume you meant an illegal overstayer which would likely have some issues with applying for PR even if you left voluntarily from the UK.

Since you entered illegally, CIC has no record of you. They wouldn't have stamped your passport when you exited so again no record. How will you show details of your illegal stay
