Visitor visa to expire while I am waiting for my OWP and PR to come in

Hi all,

I am currently living in Canada as a visitor,with my common-law partner who is Canadian. I submitted my OWP and PR application via post in May but have not heard back yet (apart from an email asking for me to pay my biometrics fees, which I had done already). My visitors visa is about to expire in a couple of weeks and I am wondering what I should do? Do I need to apply for an extension or do I have implied status because I have submitted and paid all fees for OWP and PR?
