Hello everyone!
My boyfriend's sister is getting married in March 2023 and by this chance his family and I want to get me a visitor visa to come to Canada for the wedding. And even if we can't make it to the wedding, we still hope that I could come there to meet his family for the first time. I will be coming for 1 month and I will be living with him and his family.
About our relationship, we starting dating online 2 years ago and last October he came to Vietnam to see me and my family for the first time. He stayed with us in our house for a month and just left recently.
I'm a 20y.o Vietnamese citizen. I have no spouse, no property, no "real" job. I've been working as a freelance artist. My income is around CAD$2k2~2k6 a month and I have a savings account of CAD$10k. My passport is totally empty as I've never travelled abroad. About my family, I'm living with my parents and my 17y.o brother. I have a sister that moved out.
My boyfriend is 20y.o and is a Canadian citizen. His salary is around CAD$16/h (as I remember?) and he has a savings account of CAD$5k.
We know its going to be tough to get a visa for my case because I have weak ties to my home country and empty travel history, but we want to try anything we could.
So my question is, what can we do to better the chances of having this approved?
I was planning on getting the following:
- Cover letter:
- Proof of Relationship written letter from my boyfriend with information on how and when we met, pictures of us together, copies of stamps from my boyfriend when he came to Vietnam.
- Account statement:
- Travel history: Should I just attach my empty passport? Or should I just explain in the Cover letter that I haven't travelled abroad before?
- Itinerary: I was about to book a flight beforehand but I have read that booking a refundable ticket with a return date wouldn't help for this situation, is that correct?
- Wedding docs/invoices - Venue payment, flowers, cake, dress, wedding invitation card...
Is there anything you would recommend fixing/adding/removing in the list above to increase the chance of having this approved?
Also, my boyfriend said he would take charge of all my living expenses but I think I'd better prove my ability to financially support myself during my stay (except the housing part which would be provided by his parents). OR should I also provide them prove of his income/his mom's income?
Please help.

- Travel history: Should I just attach my empty passport? Or should I just explain in the Cover letter that I haven't travelled abroad before?
