My mom will land in US on 23 May. She will be visiting Canada after a month. She doesn't have a VISA yet for Canada.
I am planning to open a mycic account for mom and apply online now only. Are there any roadblocks ahead? Anyone who have been through similar experience?
You should be aware that it may take more than a month for your mother's application to be processed. Usually you are better off applying for the visitor visa from your home country (higher chances of approval). However your mother unfortunately doesn't have enough time left to do that.
As Scylla has mentioned it would be easier to get your mom's TRV processed from her home country..... and in that case, she can prove stronger ties to her home country versus to the US.... for higher chances of approval.
If your mom has an Indian passport and if she has visited the US earlier ie in the last 10 years.... then you may want to consider applying for her TRV under the CAN+ program.
CAN+ allows for expedited processing/fewer documents only if the applicant has visited the US or Canada earlier.... it is essential to provide entry/exit stamps for these visits

She is planning a visit in mid-July. I have all the documents with me her return tickets, property papers, retirement certificate, bank statements, my invitation letter, T4, my bank statements, NOA. I was thinking if I apply now and all goes well then she'll get the passport request within 4 weeks around mid-June.
I have similar case too.. Just yesterday I have applied for in-laws visitor visa from US. Planning to visit Canada in early July.
Hopefully will get passport request soon..
