Hi everyone, I just want to get some advise what to do to apply my boyfriend in the Philippines to come visit and attend my graduation on June 19, 2019. He will come and visit just for 2 weeks.
I just finished my Gerontology Nursing program last December 2018. I already applied his visa together with my parents. My parents were approved but he was refused to get a visa for the following grounds.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your travel history.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation.

Yes, he has no travel history since that was his first time to apply for a visa.
We are boyfriend/girlfriend for more than 8 years now.
His work is a police officer in the Philippines.

I want to reapply his visa again. He really wants to attend my graduation. What else should I do or provide? Is there any chance that he can get a visa?

I really do appreciate all the answers and suggestions. Hope you can help me out. Thank you

There’s nothing you can do about his travel history.

However, can you show stronger ties to the Philippines? Does he have property there? Or investments? Anything to show that he won’t just leave it all behind?

Your being in a relationship for this long is actually working against you since it says “family ties in Canada”. The officer feels that he may stay with you and not go back.

Bit of a long shot , but It may help if he can get a letter of some sort from his superiors in the police that says something around him having to come back to the Philippines for further training, or eligibility for a police pension.

He provide a certificate of employment and bank statement.
He does not have any business or properties.
Regarding the relationship, should I provide photos or exchange of conversations to satisfy them?
I will him to get a letter from his superior.
Thank you so much

They don’t think your relationship is fake. It’s the opposite. They think that it’s very real and he will not go back and just stay with you.

You need to convince them that he will go back to the Philippines. You can try writing a letter of explanation stating why he won’t stay.

The rest is up to the CBSA.

I will also ask him to get a approval of leave to his superior. If it will be helpful

What is CBSA?
Sorry, I meant IRCC - Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. This is the government department that issues visas.

CBSA is the Canadian Border Services Agency - these are the officers who will examine you when you land in Canada
