Visitor Visa Extension

Hi there,

I am in the process of sponsor my wife to Canada. We submitted all the forms in March 2012 and her medical examination was done as well. We applied using the outside Canada (Hong Kong Visa Office) while she was in Canada with me as a visitor. She had recently submitted her passport to the Hong Kong Visa Office as part of the process.
Her temporary visitor visa status is expiring April 13, 2013 and we don't anticipating her PR application will get approve anytime soon.

My questions is do I need to apply for an extension of stay while we are still waiting for the result for the PR application? I think we need to submit the scan copies of her passport as part of the extension application but she does not have her passport with her. How do we approach that? Should I explain her situation in the application form?

Please advice.

Thanks for the replies folks. But I am asking if my wife needs to apply for another visitor extension while her passport was submitted to CIC. If so, how can I scan the pages from her passport if she doesn't have the passport with her?

If she doesn't have it back by 30 days before it expires, then yes you have to. And just use the scan you used before.

My wife went back to Hong Kong before her passport was submitted to immgration. Therefore, her passport will have a few more stamps. If I re-used the same scans, it won't be accurate, would it?

You included those? We never did, just the bio page and got the visa.
