I am applying for Visitor Visa extension for my spouse and child. They are close to 5 months in their first 6 month stay in Canada. Would asking for 1 year (until April 2024) extension pose questions from IRCC ? Or should 6 months and a subsequent 6 months extension be a better option ?
They have an inland PR application submitted and hoping for a quick approval.
Thanks
Bumping up for some advice

Please be patient this is a volunteer forum. You can ask for a year extension. I would specify that you are expecting inland sponsorship approval during that period of time which is why you would prefer a 1 year extension. I would include proof that you have applied and paid for sponsorship already. How long of an extension you get is always dependent on IRCC but there is a good chance that you may receive a 1 year extension. If you applied for sponsorship soon after landing you may get approved even if you only receive a 6 month extension. I would wait to submit until closer to the 6 month mark before submitting the extension. There is no need to apply a month before status expires. It is a recommendation but many apply right before the expiry date. I would suggest applying a few days before expiry in case you run into any problems or technical difficulties.

Hi, I am in the same boat. Just wanted to ask if you applied for inland spousal sponsorship on the new PR Portal website and how much time did it take you to receive AOR? Thanks

Applied inland, received AOR in 3 weeks or so.
Also got the visitor record/ extension approved within a week, pending medical test.

absolutely. happy to help if I can.
My daughter entered Canada in August and her application is in process. We recently visited the US, and on return they sent us to immigration and issued us a visitor record for her applicable till Dec 2025. I then also received an email from IRCC regarding the same. Is there anything else that I need to do for her Visitor Record extension?
