My wifes current visit to Canada i.e 6 month period will end on august 08. We sent her passport for PR Stamping at Ottawa but due to forecasted canada post strike there might be unforeseen delays for many weeks.
So my question is on visitor visa extension, is it necessary to file an extension 30 days before. can we not file her extension 5 days before the expiry
or is there something like if I miss the 30 day period then I wont get implied status or something.
can you please explain me, what is the rule and what is the last date that I can file an extension.

It's advisable to apply at least 30 days prior to avoid any problems with your status. The problems could be anything - even a small accident (fall on the smooth surface) may create a problem due to visa status.
will wait for this Saturday , if canada post goes on a indefinite strike then will have to apply for extension as my Passport will be stuck at CPC Ottawa.
