Visitor Visa Background Check

Hello Folks,

It's been almost a year since my dad submitted his visa application in August, 2023. The IRCC tracker shows that background verification is in progress and this started in October 2023?! Anybody here has any clues how long this background check would take? It really drives me crazy. I simply want my dad to attend my wedding. Why is it so hard?

Which country did he apply from and does he have any current or former association with military or other govt agencies in his home country?

I can only say that it's no big deal, everyone has encountered strange things.
My ex-parents-in-law's application, the background check lasted for three years, they once had a Canadian visitor visa

I can only say that it's no big deal, everyone has encountered strange things.
My ex-parents-in-law's application, the background check lasted for three years, they once had a Canadian visitor visa

So They ended up getting it after waiting for three years?

It's very embarrassing, you should find the agent to check, but maybe approval recently as you have wait a year.
I'm in China too.
