We are about to submit our application for spousal sponsorship. My visitor visa will expire on March 24th. I have read in the Canadian immigration newsletter that they are exempting anyone(spouses and common law partners) with an expired temporary visa or close to expire to remain in Canada while their application is processed.
Anyone else on the same boat?

Others surely know more than I do on this subject but I think that's the main thing - apply immediately for the visa extension and then submit when you can the sponsorship app.

Apply to extend your visa before March 24th. You can easily keep yourself in status. I don't know why you would let your status expire. That doesn't make sense and will just make matters more complicated for you.
