Hi Everyone,

I recently applied for a visitor extension and got approved. They sent me a visitor record showing that I have to leave on the date written there. My question would be a visitor record has to be submitted to CBSA the day you depart, right? Is that what they normally issue for visa extension? Could that be further extended?

My partner and I are just completing the 1 year cohabitation requirement so I requested for a 6-month extension. But our sponsorship application would be a day before my extended visa status expires.

If I would apply for another extension, I would apply at least 30 days before. But I'm not sure if I could do that especially that they issued a visitor record. Also, I originally wanted to extend my stay with the reason of "inland sponsorship application in progress," although I couldn't do that if I would apply 30 days before the extension expires. I don't want to lose my status because I want to apply for a work permit as well.

Hi

No, you.don't have to return the visitor record to CBSA when you leave.

Yes, that's what they issue when visitor status is extended.

Yes, you can apply again to extend your status.

Hi canuck, that's good to know. Thank you so much!

Hi redherring,

How many days processing of the visitor extension? From the day you submit until you received the extension approval. Thank you
