Hi guys!
Can you pls give me an advice.
I'm in Canada for almost 6 months, I have visitor visa,(multiple entry, no visitor record) from 30. June 2015.- 29. December.2015. I'm going to apply for an extension next week. I'm here with my wife, she has an open work permit and we have NSPNP but we haven't yet applied for PR. I want to apply for visitor visa extension but my father has been diagnosed cancer last month and I want to go to visit him.
1. If I apply for visitor extension - Can I leave Canada and come back before decision is made?
2. Do I have to choose in questionnaire - Want to stay in Canada temporarily ''less then 6 months or longer then 6 months''?
3. I want to apply for an open work permit because we have Provincial nomination - any advice?
Do you have an idea how long I have to be out of Canada before being allowed to come back, considering the fact I have been in Canada more then 6 months?

There's no black and white rule regarding how long you have to be out of Canada. The decision is entirely up to the CBSA officer you speak to when you re-enter Canada. However generally speaking, you want to make sure you are spending more time outside of Canada than inside of Canada each year.
