Visitor extension application in process

Hi,

My wife being a US citizen has applied for Visitor record extension within Canada. The application is still in process and might take time.

Can she travel to the US and return with the documents from the application ?

There are several scenarios possible:

1) She will be allowed in honoring her extension.
2) She will be allowed in for up to 6 months, renewing her visitor status, making her extension void.
3) She will be refused entry.

While the chances of (3) are low, they are always a possibility.
