Hi,
I'm a Canadian citizen and my wife is American. We have one son (dual citizen).
As I understand it from reading this excellent forum, it is possible for me & my son to move to Canada and have my wife "visit" us for 6 months at a time. However, every post implies she has left all her "worldly belongings" in the US and will import them upon receipt of her PR.
My wife & I have been living together for 11 years -- there is no "his" and "hers"; everything is "ours". There would be nothing left to import from the US. She would effectively be living full-time in Canada, but as a Visitor (no work, no public assistance, etc). Is this still legit?
Thanks for the info, and for all the amazing info elsewhere on this forum!

If you bring it in piece by piece I think it should be fine. My wife couriered / had couriered / carried with her when she came to "visit" last. No issues, and actually an immigration lawyer said it was a smart way to do it. Since then, she was granted an OWP while we wait for inland PR processing. I think if she showed up with a UHaul, they may question her.
Yes, you, as a Canadian citizen who was residing abroad, can bring your things back to Canada. I would bring the household goods as your things.
You could move back with your belongings, and have your wife come later as a visitor. Usually it is OK if the American spouse is with the Canadian, as long as they are clear that the American is just visiting.
