I'm in the US preparing my application for PR outland while my Canadian husband is in Canada. Is there any chance of me getting in to visit him before the application is sent in and accepted, or would they turn me away at the border, thinking I might intend to stay? Seems I read somewhere that was a distinct possibility and a better chance of being able to visit once the application is in and accepted. Any thoughts or experience with this?
I never had any problems with Canadian immigration. I'd tell them we were deciding who was going to move where (true), then later that I was working on the PR application. It probably helped that I had a job in the US and return tickets for most of the visits. If you're worried, at least pay the fee ($1000+) for the application online and keep a copy of the receipt with you to prove that you really are going to file it later. And don't show up at the border with all your worldly possessions in tow.
