visiting emmigration embassy in london

We have been waiting over 3 months to hear from London after my husbands repeat x-ray. I e-mailed twice and they answered the second e-mail, saying they had requested another x-ray for myself (his wife). last Sept. I did not receive any notification of this and informed the embassy over 1 week ago via e-mail. I have not heard anything yet. Does anyone know if it would help to go over to London in person and find out more information. We will be flying from Ireland and at this point we are desperate, it has been 4 years since we applied and 1 year since our permanent application began. Anyone ever gone over and if so were they very helpful with info. Thanks and hopefully someone out there can help????
