My wife would be visiting Toronto from India and I would like to know what is the limit on jewelry (gold) carrying on her ( Indian married woman needs to wear some mandatory jewelry such as one necklace, bracelets and ear rings - can't put those in 23kg checked in baggage ) and also very few silver idols - these goes into one of the 23kg checked in baggage.
Did some research online about the same and couldn't find any useful info. Please let me know if any of guys have any information

You can get into the country as much as it is common sense for your personal use, so a bride can enter with lots of stuff if she has established her purpose (marrying) at the point of entry and she has been allowed. You have to inform costumes about it and be sure to carry insurance for that jewelry and any other proof that it is yours and not meant for sale.
Keep a very tight and specific list of the items that travel with you, with value and description. Show this to costumes.
Is it a *light* necklace or a *heavy* design? Does it have precious gems/diamonds?
Your wife must make two typed copies of the list of the jewelry she intends to bring into Canada. This must be appraised by a jeweler or a gemologist + with photographs of each item (dated and signed by the jeweler/gemologist).... and declare this to CBSA.
Why would she bring *a few silver idols*? Are these gifts?
