Hello All,
I'm going to be applying for my spouse's immigration in a weeks time. She lives in Pakistan and I'm a canadian immigrant in Canada with a good job.
Since the application process takes around 8 months, I was wondering if we apply for a visit visa, will the Visa office consider the application or just reject it? We do plan to apply it after the first stage approval of immigration.
Please do note, if her immigration is not processed by the time she her visit visa expires, she does plan go to back to Pakistan till she gets the immigration. We just want to shorten the time.
Any help would be great!

She can apply for a TRV at ISBAD, but chances are close to nil, married to resident of Canada.

Thanks for the reply.
Interestingly, my parents have also applied for immigration and they did get the visit visa. But I guess for them it's a different case.
Call immigration to see what is necesary to do visit. I visit my husband who is a Canadian citizen and I am from the US. I do not need a letter, but I think she might need one. If I were you, I would call. When she comes if the visitor visa has ended, just reapply. It is takes 8 weeks or longer now.
Thanks. I have actually called them several times and each agent has told me that it's on a case by case basis. I'm just hoping she gets the visit visa.

1. The OP's spouse is from a country requiring a TRV (visitor visa) to enter Canada, which has to be applied for overseas. You are a US resident, and don't require a TRV to enter Canada. Horse of a different colour.

Whats the update Zeeta? Did she receive the visit visa?
Thanks.

Hi All !
I live in Pakistan and my Application for permanent residence is in process since last year .i.e. May 2011. My Husband is a Canadian citizen and is sponsoring me (sponsorship has already been approved). The timeline for Pakistan is 26 months which is way too much… I wanted the advice of all the members here as to what are chances of me applying for visit visa and getting it approved. What kind of proofs do I have to gather in order to get visit visa? FYI, I’m currently working in a insurance company….
Thanks in advance !

Anything that proves you have strong ties to your home country (i.e. are well established there) and have no plans to remain in Canada long term - including:
- property or land ownership
- rental agreements
- business ownership
- bank accounts and other assets
- proof of school enrolment
- proof of employment

But how can you show ties at the time when you are actually married to someone in Canada. Would not that tie supersede all other ties

Yes, this is why most people who are married to a Canadian don't get a TRV. However, some people on this forum have managed to do so. Send in all proof of ties to your homeland, send in proof of the PR application, then add a letter stating you will abide by the rules and just want to visit; that you do not want to jeopardize your PR app by overstaying on your TRV.
