so my Canadian visit visa for 5 years is expiring by 15th of April 21. I had applied for extension before 6 months of expiry but they returned the passport doing nothing. Now that Canada stopped visitors to come , I have lost almost 14 months off my visa validity due to Covid.
Question is , are they willing to give visa extension in this situation or someone has applied for it?

they did not extend before 6 months , they now do not a permit you to come so guess whose money got wasted here. I know this is unprecedented but so should this visa expiration of millions of visitors issue be looked at with a "unprecedented" view / lens

Extensions are only for individuals who are physically in Canada at the time they apply and want to stay beyond their allowed visit (e.g. if CBSA allowed them into Canada for a six month visit and they want to stay longer).
An extension does not extend the validity of your TRV.
thanks all. Too bad they did not extend my visa when the epiry was more than 6 months and now they wont extend as i am not in Canda and could not travel due to a ban they imposed.

Even if you were in Canada, the visa would not have been extended. Only your allowed stay in Canada as a tourist would have been extended.
Again, you are confusing the visa itself with the time allowed in Canada as a visitor. The visa itself cannot be extended regardless of whether you are in Canada or outside of Canada.
