Visa Renewal For Australian Passport without crossing border

Hi my wife's is Australian Citizen staying with me on visitor visa. She get 5 months on arrival. Expires in Aug. we will need to renew her visa before the file opens.

I have sent in the documents today and assuming it will take 4 months to open the work permit (as per website) and process the application. We will need to renew her visa in that case.

Is there any possible way to extend the visitor visa at the local airport or visa any application without crossing border to the US.

We stay far from the border and that is why it is important if it can be done otherwise.

You can apply/renew/extend visitor visas online, my husband has done it twice

If you mean that you submitted an inland app with an OWP included, she doesn't need to apply for anything else. Applying for an OWP maintains her status.
