Visa Refusal

I was refused visa to the UK and 2012 even though I earlier traveled to the UK to their visa for a visit. Can that affect my application for study permit to Canada? I didn't over stay my visa the first time. I can't remember the exact reason for the denial but I think it had to do with me not having a the student tiei had during my first application.

If you declare it and explain the reasons - and they're not something like misrepresentation or fraud - it shouldn't impact you significantly.

Thanks for the quick response but since I can't trace the refusal letter and I can recollect the exact reason for the refusal, how do I go about it?

You need to provide as much information as you can, and explain what you cannot remember. Canada will get information from the UK. They will mostly be looking to see if you're lying anywhere.

I am the primary sponsor for myself but my brother will be supporting me.
On the form, at the part where you choose who is sponsoring you, I chose myself do I need to complete a supplementary where I will chose other and put my brother there?

And also where you have to declare the funds available for your stay, do I have to write the total amount in my bank account and that of my brother?
