Hi guys...
I wanna apply for a visa for my girlfriend who will visit me in Canada. I just got PR card couple months ago. I hope she can stay with me at least 6 months.
Should she apply for a temporary visa for tourist or visit family or friends? I am worry that if she apply for visit family, the visa officer may think she has "immigration trend"; if she apply for tourist , we have to make up whole list of hotel booking...it doesn't make sense.
Please help or share you stories. Thanks
She will need to apply for a tourist visa using the process below.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-how.asp
To be approved, she will need to demonstrate that she has strong ties to her home country and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term.
reality is when one applies for a tourist visa, rule is applicants are deemed intending immigrants. One has to prove otherwise their strong ties in their current country of residence and they have compelling reason to return home.
In your case, you are not married so she cant obviously declare a family visit as they might ask for proof of relationship.
You might want to attach a letter of invitation (lots of templates available online) to strengthen her application.
Kewl,
I see you recently got your TRV, congratulations.
Do you mind sharing the supporting documents you submitted? Thanks

my supporting docs include:
COE
Reference letter from my employer
Bank statement
Itinerary
Cover letter (explaining the purpose of my trip)
Passport copy with visa stamps from previous travel (UAE, US and Singapore)
That's it. I did not include any hotel or airline reservations, or invitation letters.
Note: This was my second application with same sets of docs submitted except for the US/Singapore visa stamps.
Success of TRVs vary wildly depending on who is reviewing you. I've seen many cases of people who have very strong documents, but still refused on the most ridiculous reasons.

It changes everything.
