Visa Application Cancelled

My kid got his visitor record extension and I applied online for his visa from inside Canada on June 30, 2020. After 4 months I generated webform to know the status. On November 4, 2020 I received email in response to webform that the application is still in progress. Same day I received update in account that application is cancelled and a message will be sent with details. It’s been one week now and there’s no message in account neither I have a fee refund.
Any idea what’s going on?

Hi, I applied for a study permit and after one month the status was turned to "canceled" without explanation. I have waited for 1 month now but still no response... I don't know what to do now.

The actual reason can only be known in GCMS notes. In my case the fee was refunded to account. I didn’t apply for notes.

You can also contact IRCC and ask why your application was cancelled.
