Here is the situation -
Currently working in US on H1B visa, I became a landed canadian resident in Aug 2004. I have my Canadian resident card and SIN number. I have visited canada thrice since becoming a resident but always came back to US for work. I have already stayed out of Canada for more than 3 years so, here are my questoions:
1. If I goto Canada now would I have any issues from the immigration officer, since I can't complete the min requirement to maintain the residency even though my Resident card expiry is Oct 2009. I havent' filed any tax returns.
2. Should I apply for a visit visa?
3. Is there a possibility that I can renew my residency or should I file a new application ?

Appreciate your time and response

1. Yes, the POE officer will probably report you for not meeting your residency obligations and you would be admitted to appeal the decision. W/O having spend any time in Canada it is unlikely that you would win.
2. if you apply for a TRV you would have to give up your PR status at the Consulate before they would issue TRV.
3. Most likely you will have to apply again.
