Valid Work Permit but visa expired - I need to visit india and come back

Hi All,

I have a valid work permit till July 2017. But, my visa got expired on July 2016.
I am planning to visit india in the first week of october.

I need a visa to re-enter canada. Have anyone applied within Canada or at India via VFS?

How long is the processing time to get visa if I apply within canada or from India? If I apply in India, how long will it take to get the visa since I will only there for 15 days.

Any recent experience?

It's better to apply your TRV visa from Canada. Processing time is based on the applications they have. I have applied for TRV within Canada and It's approved within One Week Only.

Thanks Krunal. My company is applying for TRV now within canada. CIC website says it takes 8 days for processing.

How long does it take to get the stamping in passport?

I am planning to travel in end of September. Not sure if it is a good idea to book tickets now or wait till I get the stamping?

No it will not cause any problem, as for stay inside Canada you require Permit, but for travelling outside Canada you need a visa.

So go ahead and apply for it. All the best
