Hey guys,

Thanks for reading this. My passport went through some considerable water damage under a month ago but luckily my study permit was completely separated from it. I ended up getting my British passport renewed and was wondering where I stand w/ re-entering Canada to study (Montreal) for the fall term. The study permit is completely fine (and doesn't expire until 2015, which was when my now damaged passport was supposed to expire), I still have my damaged passport with me, and I have a new valid passport. Do I need to apply for a new study permit? Can I show up at immigration with my damaged passport, new passport, and still valid study permit and be completely okay?

Thanks again, really appreciate any help

I think that if you show them your old passport you should be fine as I've seen people that have had resident visas in expired passports still gain entry with their new passports as they'll be travelling with both. And since you said your permit is fine the there should be no problem imo.

HOWEVER, I still suggest you visit/email your nearest Canadian embassy to ask them just to be sure!
