Hi there,
My wife got a mexican passport and is here in canada right now. We are already applied for her PR here in canada and she should get the working permit anytime soon. We want to DRIVE from Canada to mexico( BCS) end of the year and obviously need to cross the US, my question is does my wife still need a tourist visa to enter the US? or since we settled down here in canada and she got visas here and strong ties to canada she can cross into the us just with here documentation from canada?
thanks for any help and information

okay. Its just like 3-400 days of waiting time here from canada seems ridicules to get a visa for her or do you know if there is a quicker way for here to get one, since we know she will get it with all the ties we have to canada? thanks

There's no expedite process based on her ties or situation in Canada. I believe people are applying, getting interview dates that are very far out and then they check frequently for cancelations to see if they can snag something sooner. I have no information beyond that. You'd be better off posting this question to a US immigration forum.
Saying it in another way, being a PR grant you most of the benefits a Canadian citizen has, except for a passport and voting (I guess there are others). So she still has a Mexican passport, and Mexicans require a visitor visa to travel to the US.

How long will you be out of Canada? If she is not a PR yet and has applied inland she should only be out of Canada for a short amount of time 2-3 weeks.
Yeah for around 5-6 weeks, we are hoping to get her confirmation for her PR around the time we are planning of leaving to Mexico.
I know its a little risky, we will see
