I am a Canadian citizen living w my husband (a US Citizen) currently in the US. We are looking to move to Canada and just received fingerprints back from FBI. Can I sponsor him while I am living in the US? or do I have to move back to Canada first? What kind of documentation do I need to show to sponsor him?

Any help is appreciated

Yes - you can sponsor him while you are outside of Canada.

You can find the forms and detailed instructions here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

Thanks for the link!

Do I need to show any ties to Canada? Currently I have none as I have been living in the US for 5+years

You need to show some kind of evidence that you plan to relocate to Canada and live here once your spouse's PR visa has been approved.

What kind of evidence would suffice? I'm trying to find out if I will need to move there prior to his arrival.

Best evidence is proof of employment (job offer), signing a lease or purchasing a home in Canada, enrolling kids in school, etc.

But CIC will accept a well thought out plan if the above is not possible when you apply.
