Hi Friends,
I reside in the USA.
Can any one in this forum clarify whether we need the State Police certificate(s) also, along with FBI Clearance? I know that FBI Clearance is mandatory, but supplying State police certificates is optional...is it not?
I don't think it would hurt requesting for it now and submitting it along with the US FBI clearance.
In my case, I got the US State police certificate faster than the US FBI police clearance. Depends from state to state maybe, you should check the state where you resided.
Does any one have any idea about the time required to get police certificate from Indian embassy in Washington DC? In their website they have requested to supply original passports, but I heard that even if we supply notarized copy of the passport it is sufficient. If you have any recent experience in obtaining PC (Police ceritificate) from Indian embassy (especially from Washington DC), please share!!
Indian consulate in SFO usually sends PCC in less than 10 days for passports issued in US and about a month for other countries incl. India. I got it in 10 days even my passport was issued in India.
But they do need passport - once they issue PCC they put stamp on your passport about it. You can send notarized copies of passport while sending initial application but they will call you to send passport once PCC is in process.

Hi Simon, When did you apply? Yes, the state PCCs were required last year, until about Oct/Nov last year, can't remember exactly when they changed the rule... (The date modified on the page is 2009-11-03). I had to get 7 of them ... Was VERY glad they changed that rule...
