I am planning to do my soft landing and stay in Ontario for few days and wanted to get some idea as to what people have done with respect to their cell phone network.
I am on Tmobile US plan and on their site it says that they provide free roaming in Us, Canada and Mexico.
However wanted to check if anyone has faced any network coverage issues and whether I should be doing any due diligence.
Cell phone network is very critical for me as I will be heavily relying on my cell phone GPS.

If you are on TMobile One plan, then you wont have any issues with roaming as long as you are on well traveled highways and population centers. I have this plan and have used it in Canada couple of times already which includes free roaming for talk/text/data. They dont charge any extra and you can use your phone as if you are in US. However, ensure your plan is similar in nature or else you will spend fortune in roaming charges.
I have T-mobile in the US and I just use my phone like normal when I go up to Canada. I have the Simple Choice (North America) plan. The plan covers roaming in Canada and Mexico and allows you to continue using your phone as if you were still in the US. I've made 5 trips to Canada over the past year and a half and each time I have had pretty good service in Southern Ontario.
