Hello everyone ...

I just realized that on my visa & COPR, the "Given name" field is empty and my entire name is written in the "Family name" field.

My passport has these details in the reverse order, that is my entire name is written under "Given name" and there is nothing written under "Family name".

Will this be a problem for me? I would at least want my PR card to have the name identical to my passport.

I am landing on 5th of June, so kindly advise if there is anyway to correct this error at the POE by the immigration officer or can I submit the IMM1436E form to amend the name?

I know I should have gone through the details upon receiving my visa, but somehow it did not catch my eye until the last minute.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Read this carefully buddy, this will definitely be helpful to you, else you'll have your PR Card, SIN and all information given with a no First name and your last name will be your full name.

In order to avoid this, this is the best that you can do.

While at your point of entry, when u see the Immigration officer, reacch out to him and give them your right first name and last name. If they insist that your passport says that, give them some additonal proof of government documents that list your first name and last name correctly. If the officer is nice enough he will do a correction and give you your landing paper with the right name. And based on your right name on the landing paper you can get the right name on SIN etc.

I had the same issue so at the time of landing I requested this with the officer.

I'm assuming you have an Indian passport as this is very common problem for the Indian passports. Since you're leaving for Canada in like a day, that is the best bet you have, else you could have renewed your passport and then shown that as a proof to the officer at the point of landing.

But if in a sense that the officer does not approve and givees you landing paper with incorrect name, then it gets tough, because then the name on the passport will first need to be corrected, and may be an affidavit issued by court would be rquired and re-submitted to CIC to correct your name on Canadian database and SIn etc.

Good Luck!
