I need to leave for a concert which is in Boom, Belgium on July24, 2014.
I became a resident on April 18, 2014 and from the current processing times it does not look like I might get the card anytime soon (even not in July for me to apply for the VISA in time). On my passport i still have the Visa from when I was on Work Permit, I wanted to know once anyone becomes a PR that visa is nulled? as the officer did not put any cross marks on it or my WP document.
So was thinking can I show this as a proof for my re entry just to apply for the visa, since they mentioned that they would need a PR CARD for me to apply or a valid visa.
I have all the documents ready except for the stupid card!!!!!!
In theory, that visa is void. It should have been struck out when you landed as a PR. However, sometimes they are lax or forget.
You might be able to convince the airline to allow you to board, even though it's actually defunct. You would have to be "creative" with the truth.
Why don't you show your COPR? Also you have that immigrant visa in your passport. So I think this visa plus COPR should be enough for the embassy to know that you are a PR of Canada.
Yea I went to apply but they said they are not questioning my landed status, onthe COPR it says in bold letter not a travel document and the only valid one is a PR card which is the reason they need it as a proof. Like WTF!!!
