Hello everyone! So I am in a bit of a tricky situation that I feel no one understands. I am a Mexican citizen that studies regularly in Canada, but right now I am on exchange in South Korea. My study permit for Canada expires in April, so I thought I would just be able to renew my permit outside of Canada (I had read on the CIC website that suggested to renew if it would expire while outside of Canada, but never did it say YOU CANNOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES APPLY TO RENEW FROM OUTSIDE OF CANADA). As I tried to submit my application I realized that I never could get the option to renew my permit, just apply for a new one. I asked some immigration offices here in Korea and they suggested that I couldn't apply because I was not within Canada. So, my question is, can I only renew inside of Canada? Is there no other way? Could I appoint someone in Canada to apply for me? Could I apply at point of entry? I don't think I can afford going to Canada just to renew the permit, the tickets are way to expensive. Alternatively, should I wait for my visa and permit to expire and just apply for new ones from Korea? Or should I just say in the online application that I am inside Canada just to be able to carry out the process (I don't know if that would be illegal or wrong or something). I hope someone can clarify this doubt, I feel utterly trapped and powerless as every time I contact immigration offices they claim that they do not deal with study permit renewal so I should ask elsewhere... hope to hear from some of you!!! Sorry for the long message!!
