Provided you have applied for the Certificate of Citizenship, you can apply concurrently for a limited validity Canadian passport for the child.
Umm even if i do that, you think there's a possibility of them issuing the passport BEFORE i get the certificate of citizenship? Like i cannot travel until i get both these things right?

They will issue a limited validity passport based on the fact that the Certificate of Citizenship app has been submitted.
Really? Are you sure about this??
Thankyou so much for the reply btw!

Now can you please advise that the form for limted validity passport is same as the passport form for children outside Canada.
If yes it asks for the canadian certificte of citizenship proof
Please advise what to write there
Thanks and Regards

You submit proof that you have applied for the Certificate and a letter of explanation.
Hello
I an in same situation
We have already applied for my child's Canadian Citizenship Certificate. We need to apply for a temporary passport so she can travel with my spouse who just received her visa. As we are filling the form. It is asking us the parent info. Since I am in Canada and my wife needs to submit the application for my child. Can she sign the application even though she is not a Canadian and it is also asking us "other parent" information. So do we fill my wife's info as the parent of the child and have her sign the paperwork on behalf of both of us? I hope i am able to explain my situation well. Can someone with this info please reply ASAP. Thank you
