URGENT! Need help for study permit extension

I have applied for my study permit extension while waiting for my CAQ renewal. I've received my CAQ today and was going to add it to my study permit application, when suddenly I receive a refusal for the study permit mentionning that I am missing the CAQ...

I know, a few minutes/hours too late. I am now reapplying for another study permit renewal, and it says when answer the questionnaire that I have to apply today, otherwise I will lose my status. But didn't I lose my status already when I got the refusal? Or does it apply on the next day only?

Asking because if I still have my status and don't need to restore my status, then it means I am still on maintained status and can still go to university..

You lost status today as soon as you were refused.
