Please can someone with knowledge explain to me : What is Universal Client Identification number (UCI) or client ID (8-digit number) for generic form 0008?. I have a file number already which is 10-digit that does not fit into generic form 0008 space. Where do I get this UCI?

I recieved the positive letter of eligibilty in January 2010 and the client identification number on it is also 10-digits. After submiting my full document to the visa office, I was giving a file number to be used for further corespondences. The file number is also 10-digit which is not compatible with UCI 8-digit number

Yes, the numbers from CIO and later the visa office are like your example (B*********) which are 10-digits unlike the UCI which is 8-digits. There is no where in all my corespondences a UCI was indicated.

NO PROBLEM IN THAT.... U SHOULD HAVE ONE NO. COMPULSORY EITHER APPLICATION NO. OR UCI NO.
NO PROB. IN THAT EVEN IN UR E-CASE U CAN USE BOTH
BUT VEN U USE UCI CODE JST USE HYPHEN (-) AFTER 4 DIGITS LIKE ****-****
Leave the slot/column fot the UCI number empty/blank since you don't know it.
In my case, VO asked me to fill the generic form too (with PPR) and since what I had and know as at then was my file number in the form of B********** I left the column for UCI blank while filling the form and when I submitted to the VO for visa issuance there was no problem. However, on my COPR I noticed the VO has indicated my UCI number.
So leave it blank since it has not been communicated to you by VO!
